Focusing on the unusual vegetation at Shingle Street, the sea cabbages and the vetches, I made a few brightly coloured studies using oil pastel and inks. Could this be a new point of departure?

Some exhibitions are so exciting that notes and sketches need to be made there and then. There were a lot of people with their books and pencils out at the last major Richard Long exhibition in London! These jottings and sketches could feed into future work.

Born and brought up in Lincolnshire, this tower in Florence caught my attention. Not everyone knows that Grimsby Dock Tower is Italianate! I made two wall hangings following my visit to Florence.
