When I began to develop the collage (left) into the wall hanging (right), little did I know that it would suggest to me the hermit's chapel in T S Eliot's poem 'Usk'. The work seemed to have a mind of its own; each action suggested the next until it was complete. I tried, in the spirit of the poem, not to 'spell' the 'old enchantments' too specifically. Poetry and textile art make good partners.
